Gen+ Awards Recognising Meta-Skills Excellence
Gen+ were delighted to award Gen+ Awards across seven local authorities this week, recognising dedication to developing meta-skills in young people across Scotland.
The inaugural Gen+ Awards were created to celebrate Champion Teachers, and Champion Schools who have demonstrated their commitment to improving skills identified by the Curriculum for Excellence as essential for learning, life and work.

The Gen+ set off on a cross-country trip to congratulate each award winner, and heard about the impact the Gen+ programme is having within schools.
Kirstin Fletcher, Depute Headteacher at Doon Academy said:
“I do think that at Doon Academy, we’re really proud of our journey with skills so far.
Our young people are becoming more literate and discussing their strengths and weaknesses around it and Staff are really excited about taking it forward.
We’ve had a great group of staff who’ve really led with it, been creative with it, developed new and innovative approaches to learning and teaching. And that, again, you know, running alongside project-based learning has really kind of revived some of our learning and teaching practices across the school.”
Greg Miller, Teacher at Lockerbie Academy said:
“The Gen+ programme has really developed at Lockerbie Academy, it’s developing important skills in the young people that they can carry on to the senior phase.”
It’s been so enthusing to hear how the resources and materials are supporting positive transitions among our younger learners, and creating a solid foundation for older learners to build upon throughout their school careers.
