All Learning Counts
Building Skills, Confidence, and Purpose in Education
Education must do more than impart knowledge. It must build the skills, confidence, and character that empower young people to lead with purpose. At Gen+, we believe in creating opportunities that ensure all learning counts – whether academic, practical, or personal.
By placing equal value on knowledge, skills, and personal achievement, we promote parity of esteem that celebrates every learner’s unique journey.
This approach is firmly aligned with national priorities, including Scotland’s Curriculum for Excellence, Skills Development Scotland’s Skills 4.0 framework, Developing the Young Workforce’s Career Education Standard 3–18, as well as the recent Hayward Review and Withers Report. Together, these frameworks underline the importance of equipping young people not only with subject knowledge, but with the adaptability, creativity, and resilience they need for the future world of work.
At the heart of this is a focus on Meta Skills – the essential building blocks for lifelong learning. A strong focus on Meta Skills empowers young people to become trailblazers, it equips them with what they need to fulfil their potential, and advocates for dedicated teaching time to foster wellbeing alongside achievement. This holistic approach helps learners recognise, articulate, and showcase their strengths with clarity and confidence, empowering them to make informed choices about their futures.
Our initiative is designed to provide learners with:
- A clear understanding of the skills that matter most for their personal and professional journeys.
- Practical tools and strategies they can use in real-world contexts.
- Opportunities to reflect on their progress, achievements, and next steps.
- Time and space to nurture wellbeing as the foundation for growth.
We invite schools to join us in placing skills, confidence, and character at the centre of education, ensuring that every young person can step into the future with purpose, resilience, and pride.
Because all learning counts, and all learners matter.
